This post shows you what to wear in Hong Kong.
Planning a trip to Hong Kong and not sure what to wear? For the majority of the year, Hong Kong is quite hot and very humid in the summer. The good thing is you can pack lightly!
The thing about Hong Kong fashion is there isn’t a particular style like how Japan and Korea do. But when I was in Hong Kong, I observed that most people wear very casual and simple outfits. I see crop tops and T-shirts worn very often.
In this post, I will share what I wore to Hong Kong last October and also some other Hong Kong outfit ideas so you can get ultimate inspiration!
What To Wear In Hong Kong
1. Black Mini Dress and Cap
This is the outfit I wore the most on my Hong Kong trip. Since it’s humid sometimes, it’s nice to wear something that fits loosely so it doesn’t stick to your skin.
This black mini dress is so easy to throw on and pairing it with some longer socks really ties together the look. Also, the cap is kind of a life saver to keep cool.
2. Black Mini Dress with Hair Up
For the next outfit, we’re wearing the same dress but this time changing it up by tying the hair up into a ponytail. In the evening, there’s no need for a cap so you can style it this way.
Since the black dress is very plain, style it further with some earrings or a necklace.
3. Light Cardigan and Long Skirt
I wore this outfit to Japan but I think it’s also very fitting to wear to Hong Kong, especially on a day that’s not too hot. I saw quite a few people in Hong Kong wearing long denim skirts so this outfit will fit right in.
4. Thin Cardigan and White Pants
During the late fall season to winter, it won’t be too cold but also can feel a bit breezy sometimes. So a good outfit to wear is a thin cardigan with a pair of white pants. This is such a classic and modern look.
5. Blazer and Jeans
If you want to look a bit more edgy and cool, you can wear a pair of baggy jeans and a blazer. This is something I don’t see too often on the streets of Hong Kong but I do see occassionally.
6. Leather Jacket and Black Pants
Going along with the edgy theme, another outfit that can stand out is a leather jacket and black pants. You’ll see leather jackets worn by the younger generation in Hong Kong.
7. Dress Shirt and Black Pants
If you want to dress business casual in Hong Kong, try wearing a satin or silk button up dress shirt along with a pair of black jeans. Then, throw on a pair of black flats. You’ll see corporate or office workers in Hong Kong wearing a similar outfit.
8. Dress With T-Shirt
Even though Hong Kong doesn’t have a very distinct clothing style, I noticed that many people tend to wear more loosely fitted clothing compared to tight-fitting clothing. So if you like something loose-fitting, try wearing a long flowy maxi skirt.
To keep it more conservative and casual, wear a white t-shirt underneath!
9. White Top and Black Pants
Hong Kong fashion is all about simplicity so wearing a simple white top and black jeans is never a bad idea. Pair it with some white sneakers!
10. Cardigan and White Jeans
If you like to add some more color into your outfits, you can wear a colorful cardigan and pair it with some comfortable jeans. Perfect outfit to wear in the late fall and winter months.
11. Jacket and Jeans
This is a similar outfit but with different colors. In this look, we’re wearing a blue cardigan with some blue jeans and sneakers.
What To NOT Wear To Hong Kong
Hong Kong has a very relaxed style and there’s nothing you can’t wear in Hong Kong. But I’ve noticed that people don’t like to wear clothing that shows too much skin. Even if you wear a T-shirt, pants, and flip-flops, that would totally be normal!
