Welcome to my first-ever income report on this blog! I’ve had this blog since November 2022 and it started as a travel blog. I got the motivation to create a travel blog after coming back from my honeymoon in Paris and Venice.
I posted on it pretty frequently when I first started the blog but eventually left it alone for over a whole year.
In December 2023, I decided to start posting on The Wandering Girl again. At this time, I decided to turn it into a fashion and style-focused blog because I honestly have so much more to talk about when it comes to fashion. In December, my blog was at 14,000 sessions per month and now in February 2024, it’s at 28,000 sessions (doubled!).
I’m currently working a full-time corporate job and this blog is my side project but I’m hoping it can eventually earn more than my full-time job!
I’m excited to grow this blog and show you my journey month by month. I’ll share the ins and outs of exactly what I’m doing on my blog.
Let’s get into the numbers!
The Wandering Girl Income & Traffic Report:
Affiliate Income (all through Amazon Associates): $125.62
Display Advertising (through She Media): $114.59
Pageviews: 34,000 (28,000 sessions)
Total Income: $240.21
I do want to note that not all of that goes into my pocket because I do have some expenses and I do need to pay taxes on this amount.
Expenses Include:
- Hosting: Lyrical Host, used to be with Bluehost (I recommend Bluehost if you’re just starting and Lyrical Host for slightly more established blogs)
- Website Domain: Lyrical Host
What I Did This Month
At this point in my blogging journey, I’m only doing things that will increase my income. My biggest goal right now is to get into Mediavine by meeting their 50,000-session requirement.
These are the things I focused on this month:
- Posting 1 post per day
- Creating Freebies for email list
Breakdown of advertising income:
The income earned from display advertising should have been much higher. I realized my ads weren’t fully optimized for maximum revenue until the latter half of the month. So I should’ve earned closer to $300 if the ads were optimized correctly.
Breakdown of affiliate marketing:
I’m currently not doing any form of affiliate marketing on my site. The affiliate income earned this month was all from travel posts I wrote over a year ago. I definitely want to actively boost my affiliate income with new posts.
Pinterest Strategy:
I’m pretty confident in my current Pinterest strategy and I think that if I keep it up, I can surpass 35,000 sessions next month. I’m currently at 1.2 monthly impressions.
Content Strategy:
My current content strategy is to post at least 1 post a day. I know – it sounds a little crazy. I definitely missed a few days here and there but I published post a total of 25 posts in February.
Freebies
In February, I started to create a few freebies to start building an email list. I created 2 freebies and put it up on my site. However, I have a feeling they’re not eye-catching enough to get email subscribers.
I’ve honestly been neglecting to build an email list for my blog because it just sounds so daunting. I really need to either do a ton of research on this or even take a course on building an email list. Something I need to work on in March.
My Goals For March:
- Get at least 25 posts published and on Pinterest
- Implement 2 high converting freebies on my blog
- Get 100 email subscribers (currently at 2)
- Grow Pinterest from 1.2M monthly impressions to 2M monthly impressions
I hope you enjoyed reading February’s income report!
